Service Description
Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading Course 2-Day, 8-Hour Training Program The Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading Course is designed for responsible firearm owners who want to expand their knowledge and skills in a safe, structured environment. This two-day, eight-hour program provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of metallic cartridge reloading, with a strong emphasis on safety, legal responsibilities, and quality-control practices. Students will begin with an overview of cartridge anatomy, terminology, and the purpose of each component. From there, the course explores potential hazards, risk management strategies, and proper handling and storage techniques for reloading components. A review of state and federal regulations ensures that participants understand the legal responsibilities that come with reloading ammunition. Quality control is a major focus of this program. Participants will learn the importance of consistency, recordkeeping, and inspection checklists to ensure safety and reliability. Students will also be introduced to batch-tracing methods and documentation practices that reinforce accountability and responsibility. Day two transitions into supervised equipment familiarization. Under the direct oversight of a qualified instructor, participants will observe demonstrations of reloading workflows and gain hands-on exposure to tools and non-hazardous components. All practical activities are carefully controlled, emphasizing bench setup, safe work habits, and procedural awareness. Students will practice using inspection checklists, recordkeeping templates, and emergency protocols without ever working unsupervised. By the end of the course, participants will: Understand the conceptual functions of cartridge components. Recognize safety hazards and apply safe handling principles. Be aware of local, state, and federal regulations related to ammunition reloading. Apply quality-control concepts, recordkeeping, and batch management. Demonstrate readiness for more advanced training under direct instructor supervision. This course is an excellent first step for anyone interested in handloading, whether your goal is to deepen your firearms knowledge, improve cost-effectiveness, or develop a new technical skillset. While this course introduces the reloading process, all hands-on reloading must always be performed under qualified supervision, following manufacturer instructions and SAAMI standards.
