Service Description

NRA-Approved Women On Target® Curriculum Overview The Women On Target® program is an National Rifle Association-approved firearms training curriculum designed specifically to introduce women to safe, responsible firearm ownership in a supportive and confidence-building environment. The course is ideal for beginners and first-time shooters, as well as women seeking to reinforce foundational skills. Classroom instruction begins with a strong emphasis on firearm safety, including the NRA’s fundamental safety rules, safe storage practices, and range etiquette. Students learn to identify firearm types and components, understand basic firearm operation, and develop safe handling habits at all times. Mindset, situational awareness, and responsible decision-making are also addressed. The curriculum then covers the fundamentals of marksmanship, including stance, grip, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control, breathing, and follow-through. Instructors explain common shooting errors and provide corrective techniques to help students build accuracy and consistency through proper fundamentals rather than experience or strength. A significant portion of the course is dedicated to hands-on range instruction. Under close supervision from certified instructors, students apply classroom concepts during live-fire exercises. Coaching is individualized, allowing students to progress at a comfortable pace while maintaining a safe, encouraging learning environment. The Women On Target® course is a 4 to 5 hour program, balancing classroom education with live-fire range time to ensure students receive a thorough and engaging learning experience without feeling rushed. Equipment Requirements: Participants are required to bring a handgun, 50 rounds of ammunition, and eye and ear protection. For students who do not own a firearm or prefer not to bring their own, a handgun rental package is available for an additional $50, which includes the firearm, ammunition, and required safety gear. Throughout the course, instructors encourage questions and open discussion, ensuring students feel supported and empowered. By the end of the Women On Target® program, participants leave with a strong foundation in firearm safety, improved shooting fundamentals, and the confidence to continue training responsibly.
